Welcome
Hello and welcome everyone, today I'm pround to launch a new project here at FootGear Testers.
For the first time in our brand we'll be reviewing a cushion technology.
Cushion technologies are present on literally every single Basketball shoe that you worn or saw, the science behind them is fascinating. I'm excited to break it down for you guys.
We'll be launching our project with no other than Adidas Boost Technology. Yes you guessed it right. If you have followed my sneaker reviews for some time, you will notice how fondly I talk about Boost.
It has been my favorite cushion for a very long time now and also an irreplaceable part of my hooping sessions.

So let's get started shall we?
So, what is Boost?
To understand what it is we need to go all the way back to the genesis of this project.
Boost is a joint venture of Adidas and BASF, one being among top dogs on sneaker production world wide and the other one a leader on chemical products.
The joint effort between these two titans gave birth to Boost, hundreds of granular capsules made of TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) which are welded together to form the cushion that we all know and love.
Now the properties of TPU are amazing on their own, some of them being elasticity, transparency, resistance to oil, grease, abrasion and many more. Things you'd want on a Basketball shoe for sure due to the durability they offer.
The roots of this project date back to 2011-12 with researchers from the two companies mentioned above started the first shy attempts to blow TPU and turn it to a Boost capsule, the prototype was a 2013 Energy Boost sneaker, a complete success.
Now imagine all of these bad boys welded and reshaped into what we know today as the Boost cushion.
Basketball
I'm a Basketball shoe reviewer, so of course I'll mention how it altered the Basketball sneaker division history within Adidas.
Boost was introduced into the Basketball area with the release of Adidas D. Rose 5, and it quickly became a trend.
Why wouldn't it be?
In Basketball you challenge gravity, a force to be reckoned with, the lateral movement, the up and down bouncing, and hard landings after violent dunks, why wouldn't you love Boost?

The average vertical leap in the NBA is 90cm (35'), now imagine yourself jumping from a nearly one meter high platform, wouldn't you want the impact absorption and distribution that Boost provides?
Starting with D. Rose 5, the signatures of Damian Lillard and James Harden quickly followed, and not only. The Adidas Crazy Explosive PrimeKnit 2017 worn by Andrew Wiggins got a lot of attention as well.
Being called one of the best shoes of all time, and keeping the Number one spot on the top list for nearly two years is quite the resume. It's predecessor, the 2016 model also featured Boost.
Bottom Line
Alright so bottom line? After all I mentioned I doubt that I need to tell you the outcome of my review.
Boost is one of the best cushion technologies out there, if not the best. And that for obvious reasons. Right?
Wrong.
I was talking so fondly about Boost the entire time, what's with this sudden turn of events?
A cushion is nothing different.
A good cushion is the cushion that is right for you, the leader companies on Basketball sneakers will not do a sloppy job when it comes to their products for sure, but if something does not work for me, that does not mean that it will not work for you.
Boost is an amazing cushion that's for sure, but it does not necessarily mean that it is the right for you, experience and time will give you that answer, you just need to wait and have as many experiences as possible.
So, we've reached the end of our journey through the Boost world, it was a fun experience researching this topic, I'll admit I had a blast in doing so, and more than anything I hope you guys enjoyed going through the materials that I provided on the above.
That'll be all for now. As always, thank you guys for your time, and until next time, see ya!
