Under Armour Curry 4

Statistics

*Please take these numbers with a grain of salt as these are stats that I came up with from my experience, it doesn't mean that you shall have the same results*

Summary

Cushion

Alright, as you all know, I'm all about cushion, so I'll start the review with the statement of Under Armour's lead designer Kort Neumann:

"When you look in the medial arch area, we shaved out a ton of weight there and then exposed that plate."
"We're trying to get it to do two things at once in the forefoot. We've gotta still let it flex, but still contain your foot when you're cutting. We wanted to expose as much of that as possible."

Personally I don't like this sort of cushioning. Under Armour engineered the new Eva Foam that was created to ensure that you have maximum responsiveness, pretty much it's adapted to Steph Curry's play style.

The impact protection is lacking on this one, however this makes the Under Armour Curry 4 one of the best, if not the best shoe for fast lightweight guards.

As for the plate that Kort Neumann was talking about, from what I researched, it appears to cover the entire length of the sneaker which focuses on lateral containment, and it is built to give you maximal explosiveness.

Traction

While we were used to seeing Herringbone on Under Armour's Stephen Curry franchise, this model surprisingly offers a spiral pattern which gives an excellent grip on every sort of court, from what I researched on an unconfirmed source, this pattern was inspired by Albert Einstein's theory of gravitational waves.

Support and Fit

From what I understood so far, the support of the shoe does not rely on the upper top, nor does it rely on the speed plate that gives lateral containment, everything works as a single mechanism, the fit plays a role here as well, the shoe is true to size and it contains your feet perfectly well, thus giving great support and stability.

Materials

Last but not least, the curry line did take an interesting turn here, the upper it's made of microfiber knit and synthetic leather, the shoe is amazingly comfortable while losing no durability. You'd also be surprised on how quickly this shoe breaks in.

Pros and Cons

  • Responsiveness
  • Excellent traction
  • Fast break in period
  • Very comfortable
  • Amazing colorways
  • Great durability
  • The support system

     -

  • Little to no impact protection
  • The outsole gathers dust, wiping required on dusty courts

Bottom Line

What the Curry 4 lacks in cushion it makes it up on the rest of the features, responsiveness, support, fit, traction, and the materials. The Curry 4 was a job done right by Under Armour and took a turn for the better on the Curry Line, I do not own this shoe but it surely is on my to-get list. For all of you guys out there, unless you're a big fella who plays a center or forward position, I definitely suggest you to get one of these in your hands.

Under Armour Hovr Havoc

Statistics

*Please take these numbers with a grain of salt as these are stats that I came up with from my experience, it doesn't mean that you shall have the same results*

Summary

By far, Under Armour's Hovr Havoc is my favorite Basketball shoe that I currently have in my collection. As you can see on the stats above this is an excellent shoe, true to your fit, amazing support even though it has a low top.

The shoe is made of premium materials, leather and mesh on the top, solid and very durable outsole on the bottom, still after abusing them for quite a long time, there are no signs of tear.

The cushion is amazing, but it will take some time for it to break in, it starts off stiff, but after a while you will love it, great cushion without sacrificing court feel and responsiveness, if you're a quick guard like myself, you will love these without a doubt.

The traction is made of a herringbone pattern and I swear to you it offers maximum grip on every surface that I ever tried it, especially outdoor.

Pros and Cons

  • True 1:1 Fit
  • Great support despite low-top
  • Premium Leather/Mesh materials
  • Soft cushion after break in
  • Responsiveness
  • Abnormally excellent traction
  • Fair price of 104.99$
     -

  • Cushion takes a very long time to break in
  • Lack of Colors with only 3 Available

Bottom Line

As you can see on my site I pay a lot of attention to Under Armour shoes, and that's true, I do. I have an awful lot of them on my collection and they happened to be my favorite out of all.

UA Shoes don't get the attention they deserve, unless we're talking about the Steph Curry franchise that is, but if any of you owns a pair of these, and others that I have reviewed, I'm sure that you will also agree with me, Under Armour might have a handful of Basketball shoes, but they are indeed quality ones.

Under Armour Curry 5

Statistics

*Please take these numbers with a grain of salt as these are stats that I came up with from my experience, it doesn't mean that you shall have the same results*

Summary

It will be tough writing a review for Under Armour's Curry 5, the fifth signature shoe of our superstar athlete was met with awful reviews by almost every reviewer page, wearers report discomfort and blisters, not to mention the translucent traction which wears out rather quickly as well as the cushion that offers minimal impact protection.
However, there are indeed a few things that deserve to be mentioned. The cushion might offer no protection, but it'll give you a lot of responsiveness and court feel, the support offered by this shoe was also praised. The premium materials make the shoe pretty durable and the colorways will turn some heads both on the court and out of it.

Pros and Cons

  • Premium Materials
  • Great court feel and responsiveness
  • Durability
  • Perfect support and stability
  • Amazing colorways
  • Value for money

     -

  • Awful traction
  • Very specific fit
  • Stiff cushioning with no impact protection

Bottom Line

As mentioned on the above, there are just too many things wrong with this shoe. Of course there are people that enjoy playing with this shoe but the negative reviews simply outnumber the positive ones.

Without a doubt Under Armour's Curry 5 is the worst of the series, but that is slightly compensated by the retail price of 129.99$.

Stay tuned for Curry 6!

Under Armour Drive 4

Statistics

*Please take these numbers with a grain of salt as these are stats that I came up with from my experience, it doesn't mean that you shall have the same results*

Summary

Clearly stated on the above stats, one of the best qualities this shoe has is the flawless herringbone traction.
It offers maximum performance both on outdoor and indoor courts having an aggressive bite on the field.
The Micro-G cushion offers somewhat protection but for big guys you'll have a hard time until it breaks in. Lastly the abnormal high tops on this shoe offer you great support.

Pros and Cons

  • Herringbone patter with excellent grip on indoor and outdoor courts
  • Abnormal high tops which offer absolute ankle support
  • Great cushion responsiveness
  • Attractive looks on the shoe, can be worn on everyday activities
  • Woven Mesh materials

     -

  • Laces manage to untie too many times, causes a lot of inconvenience
  • No breathability
  • Runs pretty narrow, wide-footers need to go up half a size

Bottom Line

Not much can be added except from what was already mentioned on the above. All in all it's a great shoe for it's price, excellent traction, great support and firm materials. It is safe to say that Under Armour has outdone itself with this one, personally I use it a lot for outdoor Basketball but I can't deny that I picked it over other famous signature shoes for indoor matches.
